30th Joint Schools Valentine Ball

On 14 February 2016 the Hong Kong Joint Schools Alumni Association celebrated this year's Valentine Day and 人日, the 7th day of the lunar new year with a bang. Close to 450 guests attended this event at Le Parc Banquet and Dining Centre. The 1st Valentine Ball was held on 14 February 1987, making the current ball our 30th. WYKAAO after a few years of absence, rejoined the ball with 9 tables of guests. Sumptuous food was served while guests enjoyed the performance of Spire Fusion Music Group, joint schools alumni performance, including singing by WYKAAO's Iggy Kam ('64) and dancing to the music of the Parliament Music Group. WYKAAO Table Tennis Team had its monthly internal tournament on Sunday December 13 at Markham Pan Am Centre. Two teams of five members took part in the competition and had some good exercises in a fun filled morning. Click here to see more pictures.

WYKAAO AGM 2015 / Annual Dinner was held on Saturday October 24 at Emperor Fine Chinese Cuisine. Eight tables of alumni, family and friends attended the event. Fr. Robert Wong gave an update on some school fund-raising initiatives from discussions with Fr. Stephen Chow while he was in HK this summer. Student Achievement Award was presented by David Ho (’70). Everyone was happily surprised to see three young alumni (’13 and ’14) also joining the gathering. Click here to see the pictures.

Table Tennis Playing/Training

table tennisAs reported earlier, we will set up regular table tennis playing/training sessions for our members, spouses and guests. Details are being finalized as follows:

We have selected My Table Tennis Club in Markham as the venue for our activities. Initially 10 sessions (weeks) will be reserved at the above facility from 2 pm to 5 pm on Saturdays (starting June 2 for 10 consecutive weeks except July 7). The cost is $50 per person payable on our first club activity.

Optional coaching (additional costs) is available if there is enough demand among our participants. Click here  and let us know if you are interested in joining us.

Mr. Ho's 80th BirthdayMr. Ho's 80th Birthday

(Aug 14) Over 80 alumni, family and guests attended a dinner gathering to celebrate Mr. Anthony Ho’s 80th birthday. Alumni from various class years shared their views about Mr. Ho who is the key person for keeping the alumni association together and move ahead. Mr. Ho recounted his fond memories at Wah Yan and mentioned a number of his past students around his daily life after moving to Toronto. Picnic 2015

On a beautiful Sunday (Aug 9), WYKAAO held its annual BBQ/picnic on the Roof Top Garden at Mon Sheong Court Richmond Hill. Over 100 alumni, family and friends attended the event enjoying sumptuous food prepared by the organizing committee. The Championship trophy from the recent inter-school table tennis tournament was presented by the captain, Mike Yam (74), to the alumni association. Those who are interested in the new private care facility were also given a tour in the building. Click here to see the pictures.
