La Salle Old Boys' Picnic

2013 La Salle Picnic(Aug 25th) La Salle Old Boys held its annual BBQ picnic at Thomson Park on a beautiful Sunday. Joint-school friends were invited and we have Peter Wong, Bill Fok and Jeff Mah attended with their better half, representing WYKAAO. Sammy Kam-Yin Ng (’68), visiting from Seattle, also joined the big party. Click here to see the pictures.

2013 HKISAA Table Tennis TournamentWith months of preparation, the first Inter-School Table Tennis Tournament was held on Aug 10 in Markham. 12 teams from 9 Hong Kong high school alumni associations (see the list here) had entered the whole-day competition. After a number of hard-fought matches in several rounds, our Team A (from left to right in the picture: Mike Yam (74), Michael Luk (76), David Ho (70), Allan Lee (70)) captured the CHAMPIONSHIP of the tournament. Excellent Effort and Congratulations!

The tournament was followed by a socializing dinner at a Chinese restaurant. Thank you to those who came to support our teams. Click here to see the pictures taken during the event.

Screening of ‘Trailblazers in Habits'

(April 6th Toronto) Maryknoll Convent School Former Students (Ontario) hosted the screening of ‘Trailblazers in Habits’, a documentary (details here) to commemorate the Maryknoll Sisters’ remarkable contribution to the development of modern Hong Kong, and to chronicle some of their work in Asia, Latin America, Africa and the United States. (March 30th) Members from both Wah Yan (Hong Kong) Ontario Alumni Association and Wah Yan College Kowloon Alumni Association of Ontario attended the celebration dinner of St. Joseph's Anglo-Chinese School’s 55th Anniversary hosted by its alumni association in Ontario at a Markham’s banquet hall. Joint Schools Chinese New Year Celebration Day

The Hong Kong Joint Schools Alumni Association successfully held its 2nd annual Chinese New Year Celebration Day with bowling, karaoke singing, line dancing and a 17-table dinner banquet.  WYKAAO was well represented by twelve members and spouses. Augustine Yeung and Joseph Wong played host to the visiting Ms. Pauline NG Man-Wah (photo - sitting left), the recently retired Secretary General of the Hong Kong SAR Legislative Council (立法會前秘書長吳文華).  She was a good friend of the WYK Christian Life Community (CLC) when attending Good Hope School and Maryknoll Convent School and co-operated closely with us in many volunteered projects of the Hong Kong Federation of CLCs.
