Dr. John Fong (WYK '60) passed away peacefully at North York General Hospital on July 8, 2025, at the age of 83. He faced both lung cancer and urothelial cancer, thriving despite these challenges over the past seven years with remarkable strength and purpose.
Born on December 20, 1941, in Hong Kong, he was the son of Man Chong Fong and Chi Wai Leung, and one of eight siblings. He attended Wah Yan College before moving to Canada, where he earned a bachelor’s degree from Saint Mary’s University in Halifax and went on to complete a medical degree at the University of Toronto in 1968.
