The University of Toronto Libraries and the Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Toronto will co-host a lecture on CHINESE LITERATI PAINTING on July 28 at the Cheng Yu Tung East Asian Library, University of Toronto. We’d like to cordially invite you and your friends to attend the event. This lecture will be delivered in Mandarin with English translation. Free admission with limited seating. All are welcome.

About the speaker: 

Liu Bo (劉波), Ph.D., was born in Inner Mongolia, P.R.C. in 1974. He went to Nankai University (南開大學) in 1995, where he was awarded B.A. and M.A. and graduated with a Ph.D. degree in 2005. During his Nankai years, Liu Bo studied Chinese painting and calligraphy as well as classic poetry and literature under the guidance of Professor Fan Zeng (范曾教授). His specialty is Chinese fine arts, particularly Buddhist arts as well as painting traditions of Song and Yuan dynasties. Liu Bo has au-thored many journal articles, art reviews, and poems, and published over ten books and albums. He has exhibited extensively internationally in Hong Kong, Taiwan, France, Britain, Japan, the United States, Canada, Russia, etc. He is a current member of the Institute of Chinese Painting at the Chinese National Academy of Arts

(中國藝術研究院), and has been recognized as one of the leading young artists in China. He is actively engaged in promoting cross-cultural exchanges between Chinese and Western art arenas.
