Mr. Alexander Wong's Farewell Recital (1959 at WYK)

Mr. Alexander Wong 王銓  (1927-2010) started teaching music at WYK in 1954 until he left for the States in early 1959. He conducted Trial by Jury in 1955 and HMS Pinafore in 1956.  (His position was then taken up by Mr. Wilson Hsueh).

Before his departure, he entertained the school with a recital in our hall.  His wife, Nancy, was at the piano. [write-up of the performance by John Lee (1959) in the Shield.]

We thank John Wong (60) for the CD which was from the recording on a cassette tape by one of Mr. Wong's students.  Unfortunately we do not have the programme and the name of the soprano.

We are thankful to YK Chan (65) identifying most of the 18 tracks and would be grateful if anyone can help to complete the list.

We also wish to thank Ms Winnie Wei (韋秀嫻老師) and Professor Lee Bing (李冰教授) who identify all the Chinese songs at the request of Sandy Ng (67).
